		An AC ohmeter is adapted for testing insulated pipe flanges where flammable substances are involved.
		Another object of the invention is to provide a low voltage, AC ohmeter that includes high-low limits with visual readout so that the range of resistance value may be indicated to show the state of a flange insulator and indicate when replacement is called for, even before failure.
		The low voltage AC ohmeter also comprises three calibration resistors for providing predetermined resistances in place of said pair of pipe flanges, and circuit means for alternatively connecting one of said calibration resistors in place of said probe circuit means to test said dual comparator means including said light emitting diodes.

		Several kind people sent me info on these tubes and I have checked the filaments out and they ring good on an ohmeter.

		The wires on the connectors are very small so the tip of the test leads of the ohmeter may not be able to make contact with them, I had to use leads from a small capacitor to get inside the grove where the leads come out of the connector.

		I took it apart thinking that the thermal fuse would be blown but it looks alright (has continuity.) The obvious problem is that the wire that goes between the high limit thermostat and the heating element was fried in half near the connector to the heating element.
		The heating element still has continuity but I don't have an ohmeter to check what the resistance actually is...

		A volt meter will tell you if there is power to the element and whether it is the proper voltage.
		Once the wires are disconnected from the element, the ohmeter will check resistance which is a function of proper operation.
		A ci=ontinuity tester will duplicate the test of an ohmeter but will not give you a resistance value, just verify that the core is not broken.

		Disconnect the ECT sensor and connect the ECT sensor terminals to an an ohmeter.
		If you see the ohmeter givig you erratic values when the cars is warmed up, then the ECT sensor is gone.
		I think the ECT sensor is normal after I checked with ohmeter (car off read at 1.33Kohms and Turn on car read at 0.33Kohms).

		In this type of gender bender, Pin 1 on one side is connected to Pin 6 on the other side, Pin 2 is connected to Pin 5, Pin 3 is connected to Pin 4.
		However, if you take your ohmeter and connect one lead to the blue wire at one end of your test leads and connect the other to the blue wire at the other end, you'll see the needle swing over - if you've properly crimped the two male plugs onto that 6" cable.

		Next I hooked up an ohmeter to the signal and ground leads and heated and cooled the sensors and they do respond properly, although I did not actually measure the resistance, just verified that they respond over a range when heated and cooled.
		Pins 14 and 27, analog 1, grounds for the two working sensors show about a 7/8 deflection of the ohmeter needle, but not a solid ground like pin 19 on analog 2.
		Still I have the feeling that a pin labled ground on analog 1 or analog 2, should peg the ohmeter when checked for it's connection to the box, like pin 19 on analog 2 does.

		I have an extra set of leads to my ohmeter with the same connector and some added wire.
		If you are using the plug wired as I mentioned above then remember to wire the connector in reverse, ie the exposed portion of this plug is hot and the recessed is negative.
		I then took some 'terrorist safety' tape (duct tape) and taped the ohmeter to my bike.

		There is something called an ignition power transistor but you need an ohmeter to check the resistance but you need that manual to know what would be right and what is not.
		I can not put down what my book is telling me, it is long and you would need to keep checking back on it.
		Could be you have a weak sensor too but again you need to start with that ohmeter working from the battery, work through the system till you find out what is causing your problems.

		Most common is one using a neon lamp to indicate short current.
		Some testers use the meter as an ohmeter to measure the leakage in ohms.
		This is not the same as using your ohmeter to test because the tube tester measures the leakage at a much high voltage than the typical ohmeter and can show up leakage that may not be significant at a low voltage.
