Low voltage AC ohmeter - Patent 4724376
An AC ohmeter is adapted for testing insulated pipe flanges where flammable substances are involved.
Another object of the invention is to provide a low voltage, AC ohmeter that includes high-low limits with visual readout so that the range of resistance value may be indicated to show the state of a flange insulator and indicate when replacement is called for, even before failure.
The low voltage AC ohmeter also comprises three calibration resistors for providing predetermined resistances in place of said pair of pipe flanges, and circuit means for alternatively connecting one of said calibration resistors in place of said probe circuit means to test said dual comparator means including said light emitting diodes.

Otherwise I have no idea of the condition.

Instead, the Motor Doctor's suggestion is to equip yourself with an ohmeter (don't settle for just a continuity tester) and learn to perform a few simple tests with it.
Initially, the ohmeter can be used to determine which wire belongs to which circuit as well as checking continuity between leads.
You'll need to use the ohmmeter as an ohmeter and not as a continuity checker for the next step in the procedure.

AutoStarSuite.Net - Re: ETX motors problem!
Connect ohmeter to pin 1 on first connector and verify that you get a low resistance value when connecting other ohmeter lead to pin 8 of the other connector.
Note that if the test leads on your ohmeter use small wire guage you might have to substract the value read on the ohmeter when both test leads are connected together.
The wires on the connectors are very small so the tip of the test leads of the ohmeter may not be able to make contact with them, I had to use leads from a small capacitor to get inside the grove where the leads come out of the connector.

A volt meter will tell you if there is power to the element and whether it is the proper voltage.
Once the wires are disconnected from the element, the ohmeter will check resistance which is a function of proper operation.
A ci=ontinuity tester will duplicate the test of an ohmeter but will not give you a resistance value, just verify that the core is not broken.

Next I hooked up an ohmeter to the signal and ground leads and heated and cooled the sensors and they do respond properly, although I did not actually measure the resistance, just verified that they respond over a range when heated and cooled.
Pins 14 and 27, analog 1, grounds for the two working sensors show about a 7/8 deflection of the ohmeter needle, but not a solid ground like pin 19 on analog 2.
Still I have the feeling that a pin labled ground on analog 1 or analog 2, should peg the ohmeter when checked for it's connection to the box, like pin 19 on analog 2 does.

How to find the primary and the secundary coils of a FlyBack transformer by Jean-Louis Naudin
With a common digital ohmeter it is impossible to find the secundary coil pinout because its resistance is much too high.
The main HV output is simple to find : this is the big red cable with the suction cup, but you need to find the 0 V pin of the secundary coil on the flyback transformer.
With a simple ohmeter this is very simple, you will find easily the primary inputs because the coil resistance is about 1 ohm (see below).

Some testers use the meter as an ohmeter to measure the leakage in ohms.
This is not the same as using your ohmeter to test because the tube tester measures the leakage at a much high voltage than the typical ohmeter and can show up leakage that may not be significant at a low voltage.
