  K-series oil pump leak
Initially I thought this was the seal on the oil pump shaft in need of replacement, but a closer investigation showed that the oil was actually emerging from the access hole in the pump body that the oil pressure and water temperature wires pass through.
Oil is drawn from the sump into the cavity on the left.

Thus oil pumps must be carefully designed to put out at least the amount of oil required at all operating conditions the engine will see.
The thoughts on a HV pump moving too much oil into the valve covers and valley is a tad alarmest in my book as well as totally debunked when talking about this with folks from Melling.
I'd not run this type of pump with a stock pan but the point is even in a situation where I have major additional "leaks" to the top end with the pin and springs oilers and roller valvetrain filling the valley and heads is still not an issue.
