		The administration of Daqing Oilfield and the Heilongjiang Province hope the reduction of oil production can prolong the life of the oil field and allow them time to explore new technologies to retrieve oil or to find new oil sources near the current field.
		Officials from the Daqing City disclosed that the Daqing Oilfield Company has been working aggressively in the past few years to explore other possible oil fields, either around the current field or areas bordering the Heilongjiang Province and Russia.
		Xinhua reports the Daqing Oilfield Company hopes to improve its processing capacity by 2010, making it able to produce 20 million tons of crude oil, and 1.5 million tons of ethylene, up from the current 0.6 million tons, and 1 million tons of polypropylene from the current 0.3 million tons.

		Fred Perry, R-Tulsa, said after meeting with commissioners in December he is optimistic that Oklahoma is closer to eliminating oilfield theft thanks to an increase in the amount of audits on oilfield transactions performed by the Commission.
		However, in cases of oilfield theft, reclaimers take the stolen oil from corrupt well operators and sell it to third parties, passing it off as processed oil from disposed saltwater.
		He said that some audits of oilfield businesses need to be performed from time to time, if only to provide a deterrent to oilfield thieves.
