Okazaki (岡崎市; -shi) is a city located in Aichi Prefecture on the main island of Japan.
Okazaki enjoys a long history, and is well known for being the birthplace and original fief of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who was the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, the feudal government that ruled Japan from 1600 until the Meiji Restoration in 1868.
Okazaki is of course also accessible by a number of roads including the Tomei Expressway and Route 1, both of which run east/west through the city.

Nagoya Prefecture was renamed to Aichi Prefecture in April of 1872, and was united with Nukata Prefecture on November 27 of the same year.
Located near the center of the Japanese main island of Honshu, Aichi Prefecture faces the Ise and Mikawa Bays to the south and borders Shizuoka to the east, Nagano to the northeast, Gifu to the north, and Mie to the west.
As of 2001 Aichi Prefecture's population was 50.03% male and 49.97% female.
