A railroad track to Hiroshima from the east was laid and then was stretched to Hiroshima Ujina Port so as to function as an important military center.
At that time, it is said that the relationship between Russia and Japan was deteriorating, and this gun position was constructed to block Russian fleets from entering Hiroshima Bay, but it was never fired, and was abandoned in 1919.

Town authorities of Okimi have agreed to allow the construction of a US drill site, including a 2-km-long runway for night-landing practice that would be built by the national government, the sources said.
Okimi Mayor Hidekazu Tanimoto formally conveyed to the town assembly the municipality's desire to host the drills.
Mayor Tanimoto said Okimi approached the national government last summer, and only he and the deputy mayor were involved in the negotiations.

Slalom style windsurfing can be enjoyed in the mouth of any river Gotsu river is about 2 hours away from Hiroshima City.
Just stay away from the river's mouth, which is very dangerous if very strong winds begin to blow.
Peace Park is worth a visit and so is this area for a great sea surface for windsurfing.
