  Norwegian regents
Olavs most important act as king, was to Christianize huge parts of his kingdom, though sometimes he had to use violence.
Olav is the founder of Nidaros and he is supposed to have raised a church at Moster.
Olav was approved king together with his brothers Øystein and Sigurd Jorsalfar, but since he wasn't king over the whole country, he does not belong within the official row of kings.

Olav Magnusson was the only Norwegian king between Magnus Berrføtt (1093-1103) and Sverre Sigurdsson (1177-1202), who put his name on coins.
Ironically, the same Olav was considered such an insignificant king that he was not allocated a sequence number in the list of kings.
Olav Magnusson struck bracteates with a cross and an edge inscription reading OLAVI REX (King Olav).
