Old Lyme Inn owners Candy and Keith Green enjoy a breakfast of crème brûlée French toast in their 1895 home called Rooster Hall.
Of course more recently, the numbers have gone up exponentially, with the couple's purchase of the Old Lyme Inn in May 2001, which is not much more than a rooster's stroll from their imposing home on historic Lyme Street.
Now the couple is greeting guests daily by the dozens, for lunch and dinner sittings at the inn, which they have been reshaping and polishing and marketing over the last year as an expression of their own spirit of entertaining.

Initially, Lyme was a component of the Saybrook (“Saye-Brooke”) settlement centered on the west bank of the mouth of the Connecticut River.
Lyme set off the Town of East Lyme in 1839 and, in 1854-1855, further created the two towns of Old Lyme (initially called “South” Lyme), on the shoreline at the mouth of the river, and Lyme, inland on the river opposite Essex and Deep River.
The incorporation of Old Lyme as an independent town will be researched, and the historical documents and associated interpretations as to why Old Lyme chose to separate at that time will be displayed in an exhibit.

There are two fish ladders on land owned by the Old Lyme Conservation Trust: On the Lower Mill Pond accessible from the Woodward Griswold property and the Upper Mill Pond (not accessible to the public).
It became part of the First Ecclesiastical Society (1665-1850), the first community to inhabit the Old Lyme settlement after it moved here from Old Saybrook.
