Animal farm skips the short rule of Lenin, and has Napoleon leading the farm from the beginning of the revolution.
All three are mentioned as being present at old major's meeting, but Pincher is never mentioned again (except in the 'epilogue', when it is mentioned that all three dogs are dead) - Jesse and Bluebell are the mothers of the 'pups' which serve as Napoleon's bodyguards (and I assume Pincher is the father).

Orwell’s first character’s name, Old Major, is similar to one of Lenin’s nicknames, "the old one." In Animal Farm Old Major initiated the idea that the animals’ rebellion was inevitable.
