Local Baptist congregations were thought to be the only true churches, together comprising the Kingdom of God on earth and able to trace their lineage back to the New Testament through a succession of non-Roman Catholic bodies.
Baptists should not accept the so-called baptism of other groups (not even their immersion), not share the Lord's Supper with them, not recognize their ordinations, and not permit their ministers in Baptist pulpits.

Calvary Baptist Church was founded in the early '30s as an old time Independent Unaffiliated, Fundamental, Missionary Baptist Church.
With time the old building began to deteriorate and in 1987 the Church, with Brother Virgle Jones as pastor, relocated with a new building at the 108 N. Preston location.
With the old office building facing deterioration from age and well useage we, as a church, voted to tear it down and build a new one.

The General Baptist finally chose to be identified with Protestantism and have no idea any more what a Baptist is. The first Association in the south was in Charleston in 1749 and was mostly made up of Calvinistic Regular Baptist, but there were some General Baptist mixed in because of distance.
In 1860 T.P. Crawford the missionary in China came on the scene, and when the board refused to ordain native preachers and organize native churches in China, he came to the convention in 1885 and voiced his displeasure of anti-self-propagating indigenous churches.

Henry B. Hensley (1843-1929), a one-time feudist, was baptized at age 66 and became a staunch supporter of the school.
