 Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese
While pubs historically have been the very lifeblood of social interaction and even community development in England, finding a pub - let alone a business pub -- that maintains its links to the past is not as easy as the casual observer might think.
Pub historian Peter Haydon adds that public houses - the alehouses, taverns and inns that came to be called simply "pubs" in the 19th century - have played a defining role in the development of British communities for more than 1,000 years, if only to offer safe drink in times when water quality was suspect.
Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese was and remains a traditional "Chop House," a tavern that serves thick, fatty cuts of roast beef, lamb and pork with potatoes and vegetables - not for calorie counters, vegetarians or the faint of heart.

An old pub is not morally superior to a new one, as some drinkers seem to believe.
