		Zlinsky region was founded on January 1st, 2000 and based on the constitutional law No. 347 from December 3rd, 1997, on creating higher territorial autonomous units.

		Though Olomouc can lay claim to a history back to the 9th century, the first written reference to the city on the Morava River is from 1017 AD, when Moravia was annexed by the Premyslid clan that ruled Bohemia.
		The bishopric, the second in the Czech Lands and converted to an archbishopric in 1777, was established in Olomouc in 1063 by Prince Vratislav, and the city's most famous monastery, Hradisko, was founded by Prince Otto the Fair in 1078.
		Olomouc's position at the river crossing on the trade route to Krakov also contributed to the city's growth.
