The majority of the 4th Marine Regiment was stationed at Shanghai, and other detachments were at Pekin (Beijing) and Tientsin (Tianjin).

During the latter part of 1945 the battalion maintained perimeter defense for the Yokosuka Naval Base, provided an interior guard for the base, and continued disarming the Japanese forces.
