ZAMBOANGA CITY-Two passengers were killed while 16 others were seriously injured when a bus plunged into a 20-meter deep ravine in Tubod, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur yesterday morning.
Chief Supt. Vidal Querol, police chief for Western Mindanao, said Aileen Calonia, a 41-year-old teacher of Kawayan National High School in Zamboanga Sibugay, and Agustin Laguna, 72, were killed when the bus they were riding developed mechanical trouble while negotiating a slippery road in Tubod, and fell into a ravine.
The Agence France Presse said the bus' brakes failed while it was negotiating the slippery portion of the road.
