Omeath is in County Louth (Lú) the smallest County in Ireland.
Originally when Omeath was settled there was only one townland called Tullaghomeath and to this day that is how it appears on the ordinance survey map.

It is roughly mid way between Dublin and Belfast, very close to the County Louth and County Armagh / County Down border.

Gardai at Omeath, Co. Louth, are appealing for witnesses to road traffic accident that occurred at Drummullagh, Omeath, in the early hours of Sunday 19th September 1999.
A male occupant of the car was taken to hospital in Newry, Co. Down, but died later from his injuries.

Omeath was the last native Irish speaking district of north Leinster where an Irish School was maintained in the earliest part of the present century in what is now the Park Hotel before it was moved to Rannafast in County Donegal.

My grandfather grew up in a place called the North Commons, between the medieval town of Carlingford, and the townland of Omeath, in County Louth, Ireland.
For some reason, rather than walk a mile Sundays and Holy Days to St. Michael's Catholic Church in Carlingford, he preferred walking about 3 miles to St. Laurence Catholic Church in Omeath.
Carlingford is at an inlet on the Cooley Peninsula, and looks out across Carlingford Lough at Rostrevor, Warrenpoint, and the Mourne Mountains of County Down.
