Omega point - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Omega point is a term invented by French Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin to describe the ultimate maximum level of complexity-consciousness, considered by him the aim towards which consciousness evolves.
Omega point is reprised by the mathematical physicist Frank J. Tipler to describe a hypothetical cosmological scenario in the far future of the Universe.
The omega point theory assumes that certain cosmological parameters have values that require the universe to eventually contract, and that there will be intelligent civilizations in existence at the appropriate time to exploit the computational capacity of such an environment.

The OMEGA radionavigation system, developed by the United States Navy for military aviation users, was approved for full implementation in 1968 and promised a true worldwide oceanic coverage capability and the ability to achieve a four mile accuracy when fixing a position.
OMEGA employed hyperbolic radionavigation techniques and the chain operated in the VLF portion of the spectrum between 10 to 14 kHz.
Unless the Omega position was verified occasionally by comparison to a fix obtained with another navigation system or by periodic comparison to a carefully maintained plot, the chance of an error in the Omega lane count increased with time and distance.

Omega (Doctor Who) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the context of the series, Omega is known as one of the founding fathers of the Time Lords of the planet Gallifrey, and is a revered figure in Time Lord history together with the equally legendary Rassilon.
Omega was a stellar engineer on Gallifrey who developed the Hand of Omega, a remote stellar manipulator which could be used to control the reactions within suns.
Omega also appears in the 1998 BBC Books Doctor Who novel The Infinity Doctors by Lance Parkin (which also mentioned Qqaba), although as it is never quite specified if the novel takes place in the actual Doctor Who universe or an alternate reality, whether this was the "real" Omega or an alternative version is unclear.

The Omega strain of incalculable numbers reveals that mathematics is not simply moth-eaten, it is mostly made of gaping holes.
Chaitin discovered Omega and its astonishing properties while wrestling with two of the most influential mathematical discoveries of the 20th century.
Going further, they showed that Omega'' is equivalent to the probability that, during an infinite computation, a computer will fail to produce an output--for example, get no result from a computation and move on to the next one--and that it will do this only a finite number of times.

When we started work on the Omega test for dependence testing, it was designed as a decision test for the existence of integer solutions to affine constraints.
However, in practice the Omega test is reasonably efficient for the tasks for which we currently use it.
We have utilized the Omega test in research on asking more sophisticated questions than are usually asked when analyzing programs; on using this information to pinpoint parallelism unexploited by conventional techniques; and on developing a unified framework for reordering transformations.

SAIC: Operational Multiscale Environment model with Grid Adaptivity (OMEGA): High Resolution Weather Forecasting
This allows an improvement in forecast accuracy by resolving both the physical processes in the region of interest at higher resolution and the surface properties that impact the weather (e.g., elevation, land use, land/water fraction, vegetation, albedo, soil type) at higher resolution.
It also allows OMEGA to put the computational power where it is needed – for example forecasting specific areas such as airports or tracking a storm such as a hurricane.
A historical forecast produced by OMEGA for Hurricane George shows the OMEGA surface pressure field (color and contours) along with the observed storm location.
