This characteristic is most commonly used in a religious context, as most doctrines bestow the trait of omnipresence unto a superior, usually referred to as a god or goddess.
A common misconception is that the ancient Israelites worshipped an omnipresent deity.
An omnipresent deity by all intents and purposes appears to be evolutionarily superior to the localized deities, in so far as that far more peoples and cultures have converted to an omnipresent framework than vice versa.

Omnipresence (International Standard Bible Encyclopedia) :: Bible Tools
Although sometimes it speaks of God's omnipresence with reference to the pervasive immanence of His being, it frequently contents itself with affirming the universal extent of God's power and knowledge (Deuteronomy 4:39; Deuteronomy 10:14; Psalms 139:6-16; Proverbs 15:3; Jeremiah 23:23-24; Amos 9:2).
That no denial of the omnipresence of being is intended may be seen from Jeremiah 23:24, where in the former half of the verse the omnipresence of Jeremiah 23:23 is expressed in terms of omniscience, while in the latter half the idea finds ontological expression.
Omnipresence being the correlate of monotheism, the presence of the idea in the earlier parts of the Old Testament is denied by all those who assign the development of monotheism in the Old Testament religion to the prophetic period from the 8th century onward.

Why God Cannot Think: Kant, Omnipresence, and Consciousness
In this article I will argue that omnipresence is not consistent with having what I will call higher consciousness, which includes the cognitive capacities to recognize and judge objects in the world and to be aware of one's representations as representations.
A being is omnipresent when that being occupies or is present in all places, far or near, in all times, past, present, or future.
The critic of the argument against omniconsciousness might accept omnipresence as it has been presented and maintain that even if God is everywhere, God would be able to discriminate between parts of himself as being different from each other, and he could thereby possess higher consciousness.

God's omnipresence is closely related to His omnipotence and omniscience: that He is everywhere enables Him to act everywhere and to know all things, and, conversely, through omnipotent action and omniscient knowledge He has access to all places and all secrets (compare Ps 139).

The omnipresence of God speaks of the fact that all of His attributes are fully present in all places all of the time.
God's omnipresence is not the omnipresence of the deist, which is the omnipresence of an absentee landlord or a clockmaker, but rather, God's omnipresence is a personal presence, a presence that involves a relationship with His creatures.
We have talked about the reality of omnipresence, we have talked about the relationship that is a part of omnipresence, but now we want to think about the reactions to God's omnipresence that we ought to have.

The only way by which “Omnipresence” can be understood is to regard God as a whole, the Trinity, and not as three separate parts, each with their unique attributes or properties.
In fact, the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds specifically state that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are of the same essence and being, not “similar”, although their functionality may be different.

There is no such thing as "partial omnipresence." Because Satan is a created being, he is limited and localized in the spirit realm, as are all the angels and demons.
Perhaps the greatest statement of omnipresence is found in the inspiring words of Psalm 139:7-12.
God’s omnipresence means that he is there in the midst of suffering, pain, sickness, sorrow, anger, grief, bitterness, divorce, betrayal, murder, rape, sexual abuse, cancer, AIDS, abortion, warfare, famine, earthquakes, fires, floods, every natural disaster, accidents, personal loss, and at the moment of death.

Where is God?: Exploring the Nature of Omnipresence
If God's omnipresence is understood as a spatial location extended through space this is unavoidable, for He would be required to relinquish the property of spacelessness in order to assume the property of spatiality, and thus He would cease to exist as the divine essence He once was to take on a new essence.
If, however, God's omnipresence is understood as God's immediate mental cognizance of, and causal activity at every point in the universe then God's omnipresence would not encroach on His essential spaceless nature.
God's omnipresence is an example of analogous language in which those incomprehensible aspects of God's nature are described in terms finite humans can comprehend.
