Computer bus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
These buses also often addressed speed issues by being "bigger" in terms of the size of the data path, moving from 8-bit parallel buses in the first generation, to 16 or 32-bit in the second, as well as adding software setup (now standardised as Plug-n-play) to supplant or replace the jumpers.
Buses can be parallel buses, which carry data words striped across multiple wires, or serial buses, which carry data in bit-serial form.
These types of buses are also referred to as a local bus, because they are intended to connect to local devices, not to those in other machines or external to the computer.

Bus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Buses began to replace streetcars in the U.S. because of a continuing series of technical improvements: pneumatic "balloon" tires during the early 1920s, monocoque body construction in 1931, automatic transmission in 1936, the diesel-engine bus in 1936, the first acceptable 50+ passenger bus in 1948, and the first buses with air suspension in 1953.

General purpose buses include the VME, FutureBus, Multibus, SCSI, etc. and are designed to facilitate connecting a wide range of devices to a machine with high bandwidth and low latency, relative to cost.
Most buses are backplane devices -- that is, the physical implementation is a circuit board with parallel connectors into which other boards are plugged perpendicularly.
Thus, synchronous buses are usually developed for applications in which maximum performance is required and the usage is constrained to devices with a narrow range of timing characteristics.

In Tokyo, Osaka and some other large cities, buses serve as secondary means of public transportation, complementing the train and subway networks.
Using buses in Japan can be intimidating to foreign tourists, because there are usually few English displays and announcements, and there are different systems of using buses depending on the company.
The most prominent exception are the Tokyo Metropolitan Buses, where you are supposed to enter through the front door, pay a flat fare when entering, and exit through the rear door.

 buses
Buses are the basic transportation lines for moving data, instructions, addresses, and other information inside a computer.
Information travels on buses as a series of electrical pulses, each pulse representing a one bit or a zero bit (there are trinary, or three-state, buses, but they are rare).
In theory this is determined by multiplying the size of the bus by the speed of the bus, but in practice there are many factors that slow down a bus, including wait cycles (waiting for memory or another device to have information ready).

 Accessible buses
The lift has a solid platform and handrails and is designed for wheelchair and scooter users and others who use a walker or cane or simply have trouble climbing steps.
These buses do not have any steps at the doors (there is one step halfway down the center aisle near the rear door.) Rather than using a lift, these buses 'kneel' to lower the bus about 4 inches, making it easier to step into the bus.
This definition is important because the federal regulations for lifts, ramps and securement areas on accessible buses are based on this 'common wheelchair' standard.
