Kodak's solution: It has developed a so-called white OLED display, in which all pixels are white and where the colors are created by shining light onto the display through a color filter, which applies the right shades to the dots on the screen.
Motorola has decided to do away with the electron gun, a contraption responsible for the display's bulkiness and that shoots electrons from the back of the display toward its screen.
The display technology it uses could, in a few years, lead to screens that use very little power, offer superb image quality, and are able to bend, fold, even roll up.

Changing Windows' Default Display Font Size
If you're using a CRT based monitor the first thing to do is to adjust the monitor's display to fill the viewable area of the screen (the visible area inside the display bezel).
Now, start Windows Calculator and divide your screen resolution's vertical value (Right-click the Desktop and select Properties, then Settings and under Display Resolution you want the second value - the first is the width in pixels) by the height of your displayed Windows screen.
Unfortunately, it won't reset changes in the display appearance options, and restoring the default here may not restore everything leaving you to manually restore the remainder.

Browser News: Statistics - Trends - learn about trends in browsers, colour-depths, and resolutions
R3 : a computer display's resolution is limited both by the amount of video memory and by the size of the display: more memory permits higher resolution; a larger display makes higher resolution text more readable.
It is important to note that (a) the display resolution says little about the size of the browser window, and (b) users can normally resize the browser window.
Most new PC s have enough video memory for high resolution displays, but many are set to a lower resolution because many new PC s default to a lower resolution: lower resolution displays are faster.

In this way, each pixel in the output buffer of the source device corresponds directly to one pixel in the display device, whereas with an analog signal the appearance of each pixel may be affected by its adjacent pixels as well as by electrical noise and other forms of analog distortion.
When the display is driven at its native resolution, all it has to do is read each number and apply that brightness to the appropriate pixel.

Matrox Graphics - Display resolution guide
Display resolution – alternatively referred to as "display area", "screen area", "screen resolution", and "monitor resolution" – is an important consideration when choosing a monitor or graphics hardware.
At lower resolutions, display scaling may occur and, as a result, the screen image may appear blurry because the selected display resolution is resized (and filtered) to fit on the screen.
Extra displays are appropriate when information is easily divided (for example, when viewing different windows), but increasing the resolution of a display is more appropriate when large amounts of information need to be kept together (for example, when map viewing).

When adjusted to fill a screen with 4/3 width to height ratio, only those display modes with an H/V Ratio of precisely 4/3 will have "square pixels".
If the pixel size ratio differs from the physical screen size ratio, the number of pixels per unit of length will differ in the vertical and horizontal dimensions, and circles drawn with a uniform radius in pixels will appear as ellipses on the screen.

Display resolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When a computer display resolution is set higher than the physical screen resolution, some systems make the virtual screen scrollable over the physical screen, however, most CRT monitors will accept higher resolutions than their native resolution without scrolling.
Also in analog connected picture displays such as CRT TV sets, the horizontal scanlines are not divided into pixels, and therefore the horizontal resolution is related to the bandwidth of the luminance and chroma signals.
The 640×480 resolution, introduced with the IBM PS/2 VGA and MCGA (multi-color) on-board graphics chips, was the standard resolution from 1990 to around 1996, partly due to its 4:3 ratio.
