In the town of Owo, in Ondo State, the OPC has been used as a tool in a longstanding local dispute between supporters and opponents of the traditional leader, known as the Olowo.
Three days later, the Ondo State governor invited the religious leaders to his office and rebuked them; he asked them why they had gone to offer their homage to the Olowo since he (the governor) did not recognize him as the rightful owner of that title.

Although the industrial timber supply and food tree products in the State are sustainable over a shot term period, findings have indicated that the forest resources in the state is faced with decline in quantity and quality occassioned by overharvesting, agricultural clearing (bush burning), and lack of investment in the resource.
The rural society in the state, largely at the level of subsistence farming, is also heavily dependent on a multitude of non-timber forest products and services that are currently being jeopardized by mismanagement and substandard forestry practices.

 A Mid-Term Report Card For Governor Agagu Of Ondo State
As a loyal citizen of Ondo State and the pioneer Director of Rural Development and Rural Infrastructures in the State, and a very vocal supporter of candidate Agagu when he ran for Governor in 2003, I believe I have earned the right to praise or criticize him when such criticism is constructive and called for.
The people of Ondo state in particular of all the other Yoruba states were the first to recognize and deify, so to speak, the achievements of the late sage, by forever believing in him and whatever was associated with his name.
No doubt a state like Ondo State is one of the most challenging to govern.But failure is not an option for the Governor and so far he is doing well.
