I would say this is a good canadate for a mic that is marketed for rack toms, or even an Audix I-5, they have a heaver bottom end than a 57, and are more indestructable, but try some things, see if there is someone you can borrow/rent some mics from to try out. Also when i try to set a bind key for when i talk, after setting it it immediatly resets to snapshot(i have no idea what that is) so i cant set a hotkey.
