 San Francisco One Year Later
The Year l, A. It would be a shame to let the occasion pass without at least a word of recognition.
As we look back upon the events of the year we are more and more impressed with a sense of the inadequacy of words to convey the feelings of that period.
Discipline was restored in a day; orderly government was established in a week; relief was organized almost before there was hunger to assuage; reorganization was planned before the destruction was complete, and begun before the ashes had cooled; courage was never lost and the cheerfulness that had characterized the old San Francisco never abated.

The boxes have been in my study for almost a year, next to his desk that arrived with them last August, after the USDA finally determined that they had not been on a farm recently and so probably posed little risk of introducing hoof and mouth disease into Michigan.
Perhaps somehow a year’s passage was necessary to begin to feel that the things in the boxes might be placed into my house, instead of in his.

COURT TV ONLINE - JonBenet: One Year Later
The death of JonBenet Ramsey a year ago was as tragic as her life was bizarre.
Almost as tragic is the fact that a year after she was found -- in her white shirt with a sequined star, a nylon cord around her neck -- answers about what happened to her are remarkably scarce.
Since her death on December 26, 1996, Boulder police have made a sincere effort to get to the bottom of what has become an unprecedentedly surreal murder case, but they seem not to be much closer to finding a killer than they were when their investigation began.

Although the population continues to rely on international aid, it was clear that the past year's relief efforts had saved thousands of lives.
It was becoming horrifyingly obvious that the food shortage normally endured by the people of southern Sudan at that time of year (the so-called "hunger gap" between the end of last year’s food stocks and the next harvest) was far worse than usual.
Thousands died in the famine last year, some of whom might have been saved but for the faults and weaknesses of the international relief effort.

He challenged us to show the world what true love really is so that when the children of the terrorists grow up, they would choose the truth of love instead of the lies of hate as their fathers had.
Next year, Lord willing and after the church has been completed, we are going to try to organize a mission trip to visit them in India, fellowship with them and worship the God of all the world through Whom, all of this will have been made possible.

Another group of children at risk of long-term aftereffects from 9/11 are those who came to it with a history of prior trauma or loss, says Robert Franks, Ph.D., operations coordinator for the National Center for Children Exposed to Violence (NCCEV), at Yale University.
Age plays a role: Though infants and young toddlers may not be able to remember what took place or even the specific day it happened, some of these children may have a generalized recollection of a negative feeling, says Franks, because they're aware of when their parents are distraught.
Children who were preschoolers and older last year remember more, especially if they can relate it to their own lives.

Most first issues bearing the "One Year Later" logo were the first parts of multi-issue storylines, and featured major changes to the status quo of each character, often intentionally left unexplained as these details will presumably be filled in by the remaining issues of Infinite Crisis and/or the 52 series.
Whilst Dent was not responsible for the killings (the mastermind was actually Great White, who over the previous year had established himself as Gotham's reigning crime boss) the resulting stress, paranoia and resentment of being under suspicion saw the return of his 'Two-Face' persona and his self-scarring, thus returning to his life of crime.
As well as Two-Face, 'One Year Later' also saw the return of several other significant elements of the Batman mythos that had previously been written out or retired, including the return of James Gordon as Gotham's police commissioner and Detective Harvey Bullock.

Over a year ago, I published a whitepaper titled "Strange Attractors and TCP/IP Sequence Number Analysis" - an attempt to evaluate TCP/IP sequence number generators in several mainstream operating systems by mapping the dynamics of the generated sequence numbers into a three-dimensional phase space.
In this section, we review a number of operating systems that were either identified as not satisfactory in the original publication, or were not covered by our research at the time.
Several systems, such as Linux, use the same, satisfactory ISN generator as the one used a year ago, and because of that, are not covered here in any more detail.
