		The district is located in a mountainous region near the geographic centre of Japan.
		Ono district now only contains the village of Shirakawa, whom is denying to merge with any municipality.
		As of April 1, 2004 and counting only the village of Shirakawa, the district had an estimated population of 1,933 and a density of 5.4 persons per km².
