		Quyon village, North and South Onslow and Eardley townships amalgamated in 1975 to become one municipality - Pontiac, named after this early settlement.
		Little remains of the original village save a ruined log house that belonged to Miles Pepper, a “holy well”, the foundations of the original St. Mary’s Catholic church, and its cemetery.
		Draper, Mulligan, Trudeau and Stanton are families who first settled in Pontiac Village in the 1840s, whose names are still common in Quyon and Onslow.

		Walton Smith was mayor of Onslow (1858-1865 and 1872-1874) and first mayor of the village of Quyon (1875-1878), which became a separate municipality in 1875.
		In 1950 the Onslow Intermediate School was built on the south side of Clarendon, on the corner with Pontiac road, consolidating four one-room rural schoolhouses, and teaching grades one to ten until 1962 when grade 10 students were bussed to Shawville.
		In 1968 Onslow Intermediate became Onslow Elementary, with grades 7-9 students attending the regional high school.

		The Western Australian Government planned a costly Athletes Village that was hailed as the best ever and two major stadiums that would serve Perth for many years past the event.

	Surrey Community Action - Funding
		Fourteen grants have been awarded this year to village and community halls in Surrey, under the Surrey Community Buildings Grant Scheme ('tri-partite') amounting in total to £245,954.
		Half of each grant is paid for by Surrey County Council and half by the relevant local council.
		As a matter of interest it is worth noting that more than 360 Village Halls throughout the U.K. have received funds from the National Lottery Charities Board.
