Founded in 1876 by the Ontario Society of Artists, the Ontario College of Art and Design was originally known as The Ontario School of Art.

In no way does OCAD condone cruelty to animals, or criminal acts of any kind, nor do we see such activity as acceptable as art.
If the alleged activity proves to be true, it is tragic, but an isolated incident, and does not reflect the values or ideals of art and design education at the Ontario College of Art & Design.

The Sharp Centre for Design was built to accommodate an expansion of the Ontario College of Art and Design in downtown Toronto.
The project was funded by the College, the Province of Ontario, and Rosalie and Isadore Sharp - the benefactors after whom the building is named.

The Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) announced today that European firm Alsop and Stormer has been selected as design architect to develop OCAD's new Centre for Design and to renew the existing facilities at 100 McCaul Street, Toronto.
Alsop and Stormer will form a joint venture with Toronto-based Robbie/Young + Wright, the project architect, to produce OCAD's capital expansion project, funded in part by a $24 million grant from Ontario's SuperBuild Growth Fund.
