		The Hockey Development Centre for Ontario (HDCO) was established in 1984 to respond to the safety, education and development needs of amateur hockey in Ontario.
		These organizations are the governing bodies of amateur hockey in their jurisdictional area, setting playing rules, regulations and policies for competition within their specific area.
		In addition, the HDCO has granted associate membership status to certain organizations that are committed to the betterment and enjoyment of amateur hockey in Ontario.

		Richmond Hill, ON On Sunday, September 28th, 2003, the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) Executive unanimously passed a motion approving the acceptance of the Garden City Kiwanis Hockey League into the OMHA beginning in the 2003-2004 season, with affiliation to St. Catharines Minor Hockey Association and Spartan Athletic Club of St. Catharines.
		Prior to joining the OMHA, the GCKHL was an independent league that primarily played competitive hockey within their own jurisdiction.
		The GCKHL will operate under an umbrella St. Catharines Minor Hockey Association system that currently includes the St. Catharines Sabres (AAA and AA) and St. Catharines Warriors (D and AE).
