Flag of Ontario - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The current Flag of Ontario was proclaimed the official flag of the Canadian province of Ontario by the Flag Act on May 21, 1965.
Canadians were exhausted by the long debate over the national flag and leaders of both the Ontario Liberal Party and the Ontario New Democratic Party decided to support the design.
The only opposition came from Sudbury Liberal Member of Provincial Parliament Elmer Sopha who was fervently opposed to the flag, arguing that it failed to reflect Ontario's diverse character and that it was "a flag of revenge" against the new national flag.

Legislative Assembly of Ontario - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Legislative Assembly of Ontario, is the legislature of the Canadian province of Ontario.
The British North America Act, 1867 section 69 stipulated "There shall be a Legislature for Ontario consisting of the Lieutenant Governor and of One House, styled the Legislative Assembly of Ontario".
The assembly is also known (informally) as the Ontario Provincial Parliament, the reason being that unlike most of the other Canadian provinces, members of this assembly have taken to calling themselves Members of the Provincial Parliament (MPPs) as opposed to Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).

Delisting of Chiropractic in Ontario Takes Effect
The decision by the legislature to delist chiropractic flew in the face of previous evidence that suggested coverage of chiropractic care could reduce overall health care costs.
A 1993 study funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health, for example, found that enhanced OHIP coverage of chiropractic treatment could save Canada's health care system an estimated $380 million a year in direct costs, and up to $1.2 billion per year in indirect costs attributed to short- and long-term disability.
It concluded that delisting chiropractic services could end up costing Ontario's residents up to $125 million a year in payments, and that more than half of the people who currently visit a chiropractor for care would be discouraged from doing so if they had to pay for all of the costs of care out-of-pocket.

Dunmore v. Ontario (Attorney General)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-18)
On a balance of probabilities, the evidence demonstrates that the legislature's purpose in enacting the exclusion was to ensure that persons employed in agriculture remained vulnerable to management interference with their associational activities, in order to prevent the undesirable consequences which it had feared would result from agricultural workers' labour associations.
In light of the reality of the labour market, the failure of the Ontario legislature to spell out a regime defining which associational activities are to be protected from management retaliation has a chilling effect on freedom of association for agricultural workers.
The fact that Ontario is moving increasingly towards corporate farming and agribusiness does not, in my view, diminish the importance of protecting the unique characteristics of the family farm; on the contrary, it may even augment it.

Within the dying days of the century, the Ontario Legislature was poised for a court battle to retain the Lord's Prayer as part of the daily opening ceremonies at Queen's Park.
All 103 members of the Legislature were voted in by the public, and the Speaker believes it should be up to those members to determine whether they want to keep the Lord’s Prayer.
In the new millennium, here's hoping members of the Ontario Legislature will be able to defend keeping the Lord's Prayer as part of their daily opening ceremonies at Queen's Park.

He is a very experienced member and I think he must recognize that however grave the situation may be in the province of Ontario, it is not a point of order in terms of the procedures of the House as to what might go on there in terms of procedural matters.
However, I would regard this as an intrusion in the affairs of another legislature which we would profoundly resent were it to occur from a provincial House.

Ontario legislature orders teachers back to work
Only hours before, in a special late night sitting, the Ontario legislature had adopted legislation ordering an end to strikes and lockouts in 8 of Ontario's 72 school districts and empowering a government-appointed arbitrator to determine the teachers' terms of employment.
The Tory provincial government's back-to-work legislation was passed in a single day--the same day the legislature ended its summer recess--because the parliamentary opposition, the Liberals and the trade union-backed New Democratic Party, agreed to the waiving of normal parliamentary procedure.
The back-to-work bill does not outlaw job action by the rest of Ontario's 110,000 elementary and high school teachers, including the current campaign of one-day, rotating being mounted by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation.
