For the purposes of the Ontario tax reduction (Form ON428) and the Ontario sales tax credit (Form ON479), the term dependent child refers to a child born in 1985 or later of whom you are the parent (legal or in fact) and who, in 2003, lived with you and was resident in Canada.
If you are not a resident of Ontario, you cannot claim this tax credit in calculating your Ontario tax even though you may have received income from a source inside Ontario in 2003.
You can claim this credit if you were a resident of Ontario at the end of the year and you contributed to a registered Ontario political party or constituency association, or to a candidate in an Ontario provincial election.
