Highway 420 east of Stanley Avenue becomes Roberts Street and Newman Hill leading to the Rainbow Bridge and Niagara Falls, New York.
The easternmost section was one of only two sections of 400-series highways at the time that was not a full freeway (the other being on Highway 406); it was an urban arterial road with at-grade intersections.
At one point, Highway 420 was considered as the eastern terminus of the proposed Mid-Peninsula Bypass due to the existing QEW-420 interchange, however this was dropped in favour of the alternate routing which runs directly to Fort Erie.

Highway 427 as part of the 400-series network Highway 427 is an 400-Series Highway in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada, that runs from immediately south of the Queen Elizabeth Way/Gardiner Expressway (its exact southern terminus is Evans Avenue) in Toronto to Highway 7 in the north, in Vaughan.
It was inaugurated in 1972, but it had been known as Highway 27 between the QEW and Highway 401, and as the Airport Expressway between the 401 and Highway 409 prior to that.
Much of the traffic coming from Highway 407/ETR, Highway 401 (eastbound), and the QEW/Gardiner uses the 427 for Airport access, but it also serves the western portion of Etobicoke and the northeastern portion of Mississauga (specifically, the Malton area).

Originally an extension of the Don Valley Parkway and incorporating the routing of Woodbine Avenue, Highway 404 became a provincial highway (and was completed by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation) in 1977.
North of Highway 407, Highway 404 was widened to 6 lanes all the way to Aurora Road, and the lighting system had been extended all the way to Major Mackenzie Drive.

In this era of highway downloading which has seen all of the Gardiner Expwy (Former Hwy 2) and a part of the QEW given over to the City of Toronto, it seems that the Don Valley will remain in city hands and Hwy 404 will most definitely not be extended southward.
