Ontario is the second largest of Canada’s ten provinces in area and the largest in terms of population.
Ontario can be divided into three major natural regions: the Canadian Shield (also known as the Laurentian Plateau), which cuts a wide swath across the center of the province; the Hudson Bay Lowlands to the north; and the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Lowlands, which form the southernmost region.
Ontario’s size and its location in the northern interior of North America mean that the province’s climate is marked by strong seasonal variations in temperature.

History of Ontario's Kings Highways - Introduction to Ontario Highways
The 407, 410, 416, 417, 420 and 427 all adopted their numbers from another highway that was bypassed by the 400-series route.
For example, most of the highways in the 50s lie between Brantford and the Niagara Peninsula, and most of the highways in the 80s are in Southwestern Ontario.
I suppose the purpose of this suffix was to denote a "connector" route.

Banning Cosmetic Pesticide Use in the Urban Environment
A consideration of why a ban is necessary and the possibility of enacting a municipal by-law in Ontario banning the use of pesticides for cosmetic purposes in the urban environment.
It could be argued that the provincial Pesticides Act occupies the realm of pesticide use in Ontario and thus any municipal by-law dealing with pesticide use would be an attempt to usurp the authority of the province.
However, on appeal, the majority of the court disagreed finding that the provincial law and the by-law were at cross-purposes because the provincial law negated the operating effect of the by-law.

Highway 522 is the major connection for several small Central Ontario centres including the communities of Arnstien and Port Loring.
Interestingly, Highway 522 was lengthened in 2002 as the highway assumed part of Highway 11's former routing through Trout Creek, when Highway 11 was realigned onto the Trout Creek Bypass.
Also notable about Highway 522 is that the route is technically discontinuous through Trout Creek as 500m from the former junction of Highway 11 was formerly decommissioned in 1998.
