		At the time Opcode went under, the Studio Vision sequencer was at the front of the pack, with arguably the best MIDI editor written to this day.
		In 1998, Opcode was bought by Gibson Guitar Corporation.
		Some of Opcode's ex-employees went on to be part of Apple's Mac OS X Core Audio and MIDI software development.

		When Gibson bought Opcode in May 1998, Opcode was on the brink of insolvency.
		Opcode projected that it would become profitable again, to such an extent that the acquisition agreement provided for a retroactive increase in the purchase price, if certain performance targets were met (an "earnout").

	Review: Opcode USB DATport Soundcard For Portable Laptop Audio Recording
		OPCODE was purchased, and then scuddled by the buyer about 5 years ago, laying off everyone in the original Opcode company.
		Now that the USB system is verified working solid on my less than State o' Art WIN98 system, I plan to try returning (step by step) two of the less than 'optimum for windows performance' settings suggested for having optimal WIN98 DATport settings.
		So the system recognizes that "something" is out there, the cable is good, the port works with other USB devices, and the DATport recognizes if there is s/pdif input coming into it.

		Opcode Systems Inc was a company that provided professional music applications and hardware.
