		Opel was acquired by General Motors in 1929 and continues as a subsidiary.
		The Opel name largely disappeared from the UK in 1981 after Vauxhall and Opel dealerships were merged, with only the Manta and the Monza (the coupe version of the Senator) being sold as Opels, until they were discontinued in 1988 and 1987 respectively.

		Opel is a 1988 compilation album consisting of unreleased and alternate versions of previously released songs, recorded by former Pink Floyd frontman Syd Barrett between 1968 and 1970.
		While Barrett only released two albums in 1970, The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, the existence of unreleased studio work was widely reported.
		In 1993, Opel was re-issued with several bonus tracks of further alternate takes.

	Syd Barrett
		Syd Barrett (born Roger Keith Barrett January 6, 1946 in Cambridge, England) was one of the founding members of the 1960s psychedelic rock group Pink Floyd.
		In these albums he worked together with bandmates from Pink Floyd Members and members of The Soft Machine[?].
		The Pink Floyd album Wish You Were Here (1975) was evocative of Syd; the song "Shine on you crazy diamond", which opens and closes the album, has been acknowledged by Floyd members to be explicitly about Syd.

		The 'brown' album, as it's now generally referred to, bore the now classic Orbital live standards 'Halcyon+on+on', 'Remind' and 'Impact (The Earth Is Burning)', going on to feature highly in most end-of-year Best Album polls.
		The film itself (understandably) received mixed reviews though the single became their second UK top three success since Christmas, whilst on the live front that year Orbital's main appearances were at Tribal Gathering, two sets at the Phoenix Festival and the closing slot on East coast leg of Lollapalooza in the States.
		The score album is released by EMI in October.

		That was the justification Dave Gilmour later gave for their inclusion, but the oversight of 'Opel' was a tragic omission, not 'corrected' until it gave it's name to a 1988 LP of out-takes.
		Never mind the time limit the album had it still had more potential but just as well the talent shone through.as for piper it along with everything he done is a 10 for me based on enjoyability.i dont ever remember a feeling of that when i heard bike for the first time what a buzz.

		its a great album, translucent, gentlish, none of alot of dubsteps dark, pummeling ambitions, like a kind of magnet for secret sounds and triggered detached memories, which allow your senses to hallucinate, rather than pressurising them through physical overload.
		It's not immediate but that's very rare nowdays, it's one of the few albums of recent times i want to go back to and listen to over again as i know i will get a different 'reading' each time.

		The only reason I bought the compilation is the "new" song Bob Dylan Blues, a demo recording from 1970 that producer/old pal/Syd's successor in Floyd Dave Gilmour recently found at home in a shoebox or something.
		Bob Dylan Blues is not the highlight of the album, but a playful little teasing song about one of Syd's greatest heroes when it probably was written some time in the mid 60s:
