	Opel Kadett - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Opel Kadett is a small family car produced by the German automaker Opel between 1937 and 1940, then from 1962 to 1992.
		The fourth generation car, introduced in 1979 and known as the Kadett D. The British version of the Kadett D was known as the Vauxhall Astra Mk.1, and was launched in April, 1980.
		The Kadett E was introduced in 1984, and was voted Car of the Year in 1985, largely due to its advanced aerodynamic body styling.

	HISTORY
		The new Kadett D, introduced in the fall of 1979, was a car with a transverse mounted 1196cc OHV or 1290cc OHC engine, driving front wheels trough a 4-speed manual gearbox.
		As is customary with Opel, three trim levels were available on all models of the Kadett D series: standard, luxury and Berlina.
		For those with a sporting taste, the Kadett could be ordered with the SR equipment package, with included front and rear spoilers, low profile 185/60 radials on aluminum rims, flared fenders, Recaro sport seats and additional instrumentation.
