Open All Hours - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Open All Hours was a BBC sitcom which ran for four series (26 episodes in all) between 1976 and 1985, with a pilot episode from the Seven of One series.
His nephew, Granville, played by David Jason is the shop's put-upon errand boy, whose attempts at a burgeoning love-life (or, some might say, obsessions with local girls) somehow seem to fall flat.
He blames his uncle, in particular for the fact that he has to be up at an extremely early hour of the morning in order to open the shop.

Open is relaxed, open is accepting, open is happy, open is honest, open opens my breath, open clears my eyes, open makes me want to lick the world’s cheek, open is power.

In that case opening emotions share energy and move it around the body.

BBC NEWS | Education | 'Open all hours' plan for schools
The idea, announced earlier this year in the government's five-year education plan, is for an extended school to be opened in every local education authority by 2006.
Such "educare" schemes - combining education and welfare - are seen as a way of helping children to have a safer and more stimulating after-school environment - and to provide parents with a greater range of high-quality childcare.
The extra hours in school could be spent in activities such as sport, art, clubs and societies - but the government has already claimed that this will not mean extra work for teachers.

A vast archive about to open to the public for the first time - which might well bring tears to the eyes of anyone intending to spend most of today in a checkout queue - demonstrates the obsessive attention to detail on which he built his empire.

The pilot, although unavaliable until OAH's DVD release, is an excellent introduction to the main characters, with Arkwright telling Granville the benefits of not listening to the news being a perfect indication of the enclosed world in which he lives and in which he is determined to make Granville stay.
It is also mentioned that OAH is "..unafraid to be gentle.", and makes few demands on the viewer, enveloping them into the world of Arkwright, with jokes appealing to a broad cross-section of the audience.
The jokes about Granville's mother are focused upon, and it's interesting that Granville's mother is described as having abandoned him, when I gained the impression that she died either in childbirth or soon after.
