Most important drivers are network drivers, depending upon the network cards used in the participating nodes in the cluster (Ex: e100, eepro100 etc.), which would be used while booting cluster nodes.
OpenSSI includes an integrated version of Linux Virtual Server (``LVS''), which lets you to configure a Cluster Virtual IP (``CVIP'') address that automatically load balances TCP connections across various nodes.

I realize BProc and OpenSSI provide different SSI (or SSI-like) features, but I'd like to understand how the scalability of OpenSSI compares to BProc.

Unfortunately you can't do that because Xen runs under the OS kernel.
Since it's not just an application you can't use OpenSSI / openMosix to distribute it across multiple machines.
That said, you should be able to achieve the same sort of results by running multiple OpenSSI / openMosix clusters on top of standard Xen.

 Kerrighed or OpenSSI?-The Linux Kernel-Linux Forums
Though I was initially into implementing openMOSIX, I've turned that idea down, as openSSI and Kerrighed can migrate individual threads, and function as, IMO, "true SSI" setups.
From what I know, Kerrighed is still experimental, but by far the best, performance-wise.
OpenSSI doesn't have quite the featureset that Kerrighed does, but it's much more modular and supported (with funding coming from HP Thus, what should I choose for an Ubuntu cluster?

I consider to try out OpenSSI 1.9.1 but that is a developer version and acording to some bulletins that cluster version freezes, and no new version has been made for more than a year.
If I use version 1.2.2 in a two node configuration with drbd then is it easy to set up the init node, but how do I add a new node with help from PXE?
I don't know if OpenSSI is dead, but the mailing list seems to be quite active...

Although we often think of Linux clusters synonymously with High Performance Linux clusters, there are, in fact, many different types of Linux clusters.
In addition to the well-known High Performance Computing (HPC) Linux cluster type, in the technical paper "Open Single System Image (OpenSSI) Linux Cluster Project", Bruce Walker lists five other cluster types:
Load leveling -- Clusters that move processes from highly loaded nodes to more lightly loaded nodes, as in openMosix (see related article "The Secrets of openMosix" in this issue)
