First Aid: Chapter 2. Basic Measures for First Aid: Opening the Airway-Unconscious and Not Breathing Casualty
The jaw thrust is the safest first approach to opening the airway of a casualty who has a suspected neck injury because in most cases it can be accomplished without extending the neck.
After establishing an open airway, it is important to maintain that airway in an open position.
Once the rescuer uses one of the techniques to open the airway (jaw-thrust or head-tilt/chin-lift), he should maintain that head position to keep the airway open.

Opening variations that you consider yours, and are interesting and comfortable for you to play, must be with you no matter the changes in the chess weather.

TCU Intervention Manuals are described below, organized according to their typical and strategic applications to the sequence of client needs and progression during treatment.
Manuals have been designed to be highly focused, practical, and flexible in order to meet the therapeutic needs of the “real-world” programs.
All TCU Manuals rely on a cognitive-based visual representation strategy for counseling – that is, “node-link mapping” (Dansereau, Joe, and Simpson, 1993; Dansereau, Dees, and Simpson, 1994) – shown to enhance client communication, planning, and decision-making skills.

If you dream of demolishing White's psyche along with his center, then there is no better opening choice than the Pirc." Well, that may be pushing it a bit, but the bottom line is that the book does deliver in an acceptable, comprehensive way.
But we are told nothing about who he is, what his abilities are, etc., etc. The book and its analysis seem to focus on the games and annotations of Chernin, but the material also seems to be presented through the analytical eyes of Cartier.
Understanding ideas in the openings is often more important than knowing concrete lines, and a credible job is done is this regard.

Lessons for Correspondence Chess Players-Part 8(1)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
When preparing for a game, particularly in correspondence chess, for many the way is shown in theoretical opening manuals, where the symbols "±" or "=" at the end of a variation are like beacons guiding your chess ship into a safe harbour.
First of all, in actual fact, theoretical manuals are nothing more than the collection of games played between people of uneven strength, sometimes long ago.
Often the chess player, having skilfully played out the variation according to the manual, at the end of which stands the symbol "=", makes another five to ten completely natural moves and discovers to his amazement that it is time to resign.

Chessville - Instruction - Openings - The Study of the Opening Part Three, by Diego Acosta and Tony Hahn
The opening lines that you craft yourself, carefully making notes of your understanding, engine annotations, and comments, are far more beneficial than endless opening manuals.
Be that as it may be, there is no denying that the study of certain openings will reduce the amount of theory and deviations a lot and will be more approachable for the student while some others will be more demanding.
The call of which openings to study is yours alone… Chess, after all, is not easy… Is there any merit in studying an opening that demands a huge amount of preparation because of the latent possibilities by either side?

Opening books, which discuss chess openings, are by far the most common type of literature on Chess play.
Usually, at the end of a sequence of moves provided in a theory table, the reader is told that one side stands slightly better than the other.
This eliminates the need for the program to calculate the best lines during approximately the first ten moves of the game, where the positions are extremely open-ended and thus computationally expensive to evaluate.

This is a bit different, but it's worth having because it deals with situations wherein you might need to look for an alternative to picking in order to open a customer's locked door without damage.
This manual approaches the industry in a slightly different way than does Lock Picker's own ebook, and I have always maintained that you should equip yourself as completely as you possibly can.
You will also learn many different ways to bypass the lock entirely: disassemble doorknobs from the outside, use tools to activate spindles and linkages (the parts that connect locks to their latches) and ways to directly access the latch or the unlocking switches.

 ChessBase.com - Chess News - ChessBase Opening Encyclopedia 2006
There were a couple of the now-familiar "encyclopedic" (lots and lots of opening variations in column/table format, each ending in an evaluation provided using symbolic notation) opening books kicking around on the market at that time, most notably Modern Chess Openings and Fine's Practical Chess Openings.
Of course, I'm talking about ChessBase's opening disks, each on an individual opening, which were released periodically from the late 1980's up through 1995.
ChessBase also "filled in the blanks" by including new material on openings which had not yet been covered in the old line of opening disks, so you had a complete compendium of all known openings (not counting trash like Fool's Mates) in a searchable and easily-retrievable format.
