PREDICTING THE MAIN RESISTANCE OF BELT CONVEYORS C
Belt conveyors have been used for the transportation of bulk solid over relatively short distances for many years, but with significant developments in analytical procedures to describe the dynamic properties of belt conveying systems, the utilisation of belt conveyors for long distance overiand transportation is becoming more economically viable.
Belt conveyor installations are becoming progressively longer and belt speeds significantly faster, and as these trends continue it becomes increasingly important that the motion resistances associated with the operation of belt conveyors be minimised for optimum performance and efficiency.
The energy consumed during the operation of a long horizontal belt conveyor is primarily due to the frictional resistance that occurs along the length of the conveyor.

Coextruded plastic belt strap, buckle and belt - Patent 5063615
Accordingly, the multilayer pre-molding operation belt strap 10 may be conveniently co-extruded with a contoured profile suitable for the formation of the belt strap to be molded, thereby reducing the required mold cycle time.
During the molding operation, the front layer 12 is embossed so that at least areas thereof are in relief relative to other areas, the contouring or embossing of the front layer 12 preferably being to a depth of less than the thickness of the front layer.
The film 61 applied to the molded buckle during the finishing operation to produce the finished buckle 60 is of varying thickness according to the degree of relief of the buckle, the film 61 being closer in color to the buckle back layer 54 than the buckle front layer 52.

Selection and installation of conveyor belt scales
Belt scales have become an important asset to an aggregate plant by helping to maximize the use of raw materials, control inventories, and aid in the manufacture of a consistent product.
A survey of belt scale suppliers on the results of service visits revealed that about eight out of every ten service calls were to resolve a problem with the conveyor and its affect on the scale rather than a component failure or problem with the belt scale system.
Belt scales can be susceptible to problems caused by material build up because debris can collect in structural portions of the scale and prevent the material weight from being sensed by the load cells.

SME--ONLINE DIGITAL LIBRARY: SURFACE MINING, 2ND EDITION
Principally responsible for the belt’s increased length and capacities is the emergence of the stranded steel cable core.
To relieve the belt of high tensile stresses and to gain other benefits, the cable belt system was developed whereby the cargo on the belt is carried on the two supporting cables via transverse stiffness imbedded in the belt.
The tripper rails on the belt modules were to be lifted slightly and dragged toward the shifting machine as the latter traversed forward, parallel to the new centerline of the belt.

 1997-065 | 8/4/1997 | Kansas Attorney General Opinion
These vehicles, therefore, qualify as passenger vehicles, requiring the operator and all front seat occupants to engage their safety restraints in compliance with K.S.A. This interpretation is evident when coupled with the statute's objective of occupant crash protection.
Therefore, it is our opinion that operators of four-wheel drive vehicles, as operators of multipurpose passenger vehicles pursuant to 49 C.F.R. § 571.208, are required under Kansas law to have a seat belt properly fastened about their body at all times while the vehicle is in motion.
In conclusion, it is our opinion that operators of four-wheel drive vehicles fall outside of the parameters of the exception eliminating mandatory seat belt use for operators of vehicles equipped with "special features" for occasional off-road use.

Strength, response critical for racing snowmobile belt - The world's most trusted name in belts, hoses & hydraulics | ...
Gates Corporation, manufacturer of high-performance snowmobile belts for both recreational and racing applications, reports that advances made in belt technology are allowing those with the "need for speed" to get everything they want from a racing belt.
Belt construction is critical as it must slide in and out of the pulleys more than 18,000 times per minute while being squeezed with 2,000 pounds of force.
High-performance belts made for aggressive riding require that the pulleys be calibrated to exert the correct tension on the belt to reduce slip.
