  Operation Joint Forge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Operation Joint Forge was the name given to the operations of the NATO "Follow-On Force" in Bosnia beginning on 20 June 1998.
This slightly smaller force replaced the Stabilization Force (SFOR) which tried to bring peace to the region under the rubric Operation Joint Guard.

SFOR considered how to adjust the operation further, including its possible termination by the end of 2004 and a transition possibly to a new NATO military liaison and advisory mission (with NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo) and to a new EU mission.
A ceremony in Sarajevo on 02 December 2004 marked the conclusion of the NATO-led SFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the beginning of the European Union’s follow-on mission EUFOR.
The current troop level of 6,900 already represents a 20 percent reduction from the 8,500 U.S. troops deployed in June 1998 and is 66 percent less than the peak U.S. deployment of 20,000 troops in 1996.

The Commander of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) is in charge of the implementation of the MTA and controls all the forces deployed into his area of operation.
The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) delegated authority for the implementation of Operation Joint Guardian to the Commander-in-Chief of Allied Forces Southern Europe whose headquarters is in Naples, Italy.
