The MOSES Concept   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
The MOSES language is built upon a proprietary database manager specifically designed for its purpose - the storage and retrieval of scientific models and the results of their simulations.
MOSES will then use the hydrodynamic theory selected from the three available to compute the response operators of both the motions of each body and the connector forces.
MOSES then takes the hydrodynamic forces computed via the proper hydrodynamic theory, combines them with the other forces which act on the system, and integrates the nonlinear equations of motion in the time domain.

history - operation moses - Israel Association for Ethiopian Jews
Operation Moses thus began on November 21, 1984.
News leaks ended Operation Moses prematurely, as Arab nations pressured the Sudanese government to disallow Ethiopian Jews to cross Sudanese territory.
In 1985, then Vice President George Bush initiated a CIA follow-up called Operation Joshua to bring 800 of the 1,000 remaining in Sudan to Israel.

 Operation Moses - February 26 1985
Operation Moses was the first large scale rescue operation of the Beta Israel.
Because of the premature ending to the Operation Moses, almost 15,000 Jews, or two thirds of the Beta Israel, were left behind in Ethiopia.
Operation Solomon rescued twice the number of Jews as Operation Moses and Operation Joshua combined, in a fraction of the time.

 Moses King of Ethiopia
Not so self-evident was the name of the earlier 1984 rescue which was entitled "Operation Moses." The biblical connection between Moses and Ethiopia is not a strong one, being limited to a vague reference to Moses' "Ethiopian wife," a mysterious figure about whom we are told very little.
Moses happened upon King Kikanos as he was laying siege to the capital city trying to recapture it, and was instantly appointed commander-in-chief.
Moses defused this "minefield" by having his soldiers unleash a volley of hungry storks who immediately swooped down upon the serpents and devoured them, allowing Moses' forces to recapture the capital.

In math, 56% of the Operation Solomon immigrant children and 51% of the Operation Moses children were seen as below class level, as opposed to 21% of the "regular" Israeli children.
The operation was kept secret to avoid leaks to the press, which might have embarrassed the Ethiopian government and provoked them to stop it.

 MOSES Management Fundamental Processes
Each MOSES "operation" is defined as a list of physical "processes" representing the actual action(s) performed by the "operation".
A MOSES process is defined as a process which reflects a physical change in some property or group of properties relating to the soil, surface, vegetation, residue, or any other material that impacts the ARS erosion models' representations of the soil/surface/vegetation/residue states.
This is probably the best approach to handling operations that are used primarily for the purpose of creating ridges as a farmer will "set" the tillage depth of these implements to create the ridges he wants.

We wrote about Operation Moses, an airlift of almost 8,000 Ethiopian Jews to Israel between November 18, 1984, and January 5, 1985.
We described it as “an act of mercy in a merciless world.” Operation Solomon, which took place over six years later, on May 24 and 25, 1991, flew 14,310 Ethiopian Jews to Israel in 34 hours and 4 minutes.
Operation Solomon is a remarkably informative book about a tense and very complicated rescue.

The operation was almost aborted, and Lubrani, desperately searching for a convincing argument, recalls asking the minister, "Can you conceive that I represent a people and a government that will deceive you on a miserable $35 million?" The minister replied, "I believe you." Permission was granted for the operation to resume.

 Operation Moses
This was a covert operation to rescue thousands of Black Ethiopian Jews or Falahas from starvation and fly them to Israel.
The Israeli base for the operation was thinly disguised as a holiday resort on the Red Sea, by the time it was closed down in January 1986 it had rescued 18,000 Jews, 13,000 directly via the Red Sea operation and 5,000 via an official chartered jet.
The operation was highly successful and caused an outrage in the Arab World, it would have rescued more but a press leak forced it to be closed down.

In this context, "relative" means an increase or decrease of random roughness after an operation based upon the pre-operation roughness and "absolute" means a change to a fixed random roughness regardless of the pre-operation surface condition.
The "percent of surface disturbed" by the operation would be a random roughness process parameter.

But Moses also was a man humbled by a speech impediment, intimate with God yet distant from his own family, with a complicated, all-consuming relationship to the contentious people he led.
This thought- provoking A& E biography explores the life of Moses and his pivotal time, making ancient history come alive through the archeology, history, and geography of the region.

They are called Falashas, the name being derived from the Amharic (the language of Ethiopia) word for strangers, a reminder in itself of the way in which the Jews have remained separate from the peoples among whom they lived.
Operation Moses came to an abrupt halt once it became public knowledge, but in 1990 Israel and Ethiopia established diplomatic relationships, and most of the rest of the Falashas went to Israel.
It is generally thought that the Falashas are the descendants of converts made by Jews from Arabia in the first and second centuries A.D. In a visit to Ethiopia in January 1990 Hancock came across another, less well-known, Ethiopian tribe, known as the Qemant, which appeared to have Jewish origins.
