Operation Noble Eagle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Operation Noble Eagle is the U.S. military operational designator to the military's efforts in the War on Terrorism that were carried out on US soil.
The operation began September 14, 2001, in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks, and continues to the time of this writing.
Operation Noble Eagle comprises, among other things, air interceptor patrols over and around cities and the mobilization of thousands of National Guard and Reserve troops to perform security missions on military installations, airports and other potential targets such as bridges.

AMERICA and Britain are producing secret plans to launch a ten-year “war on terrorism” — Operation Noble Eagle — involving a completely new military and diplomatic strategy to eliminate terrorist networks and cells around the world.
Most of the focus of the ten-year campaign plan, the sources say, is on using military action as a potent back-up to all the other strands of Operation Noble Eagle.
However, President Bush, conscious of the demand for “revenge” from the American public, might sanction shorter-term military operation by special forces, or airstrikes, but only if there is sufficient intelligence to guarantee a sucessful outcome.

 Operation Noble Eagle
President George W. Bush authorized a partial mobilization of the reserves Sept. 15 for homeland defense and civil support missions in response to the terrorist attacks Sept. 11 at the New York World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Most of the reserve-component soldiers who were called up to augment the active force for homeland defense and civil support were volunteers, as thousands had called in to say they are ready to report for duty wherever needed.
However, nothing in the order precluded it from expanding to include a call-up of the reserves for "Enduring Freedom," the operation name given the operation which covers retaliatory action the country took terrorists.
