Operation Dragoon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Operation Dragoon was the Allied invasion of southern France, on 15 August 1944, as part of World War II.
During the planning stages, the operation was known as Anvil, to compliment Operation Hammer, which was at that time the codename for the invasion of Normandy.
Subsequently both plans were renamed, the latter becoming Operation Overlord, the former becoming Operation Dragoon; a name supposedly picked by Winston Churchill, who was opposed to the plan, and claimed to having been "dragooned" into accepting it.

The general type is customarily known as a "Waddell and Harrington vertical lift." The span is raised and lowered by steel cables passing over sheaths at the top of steel towers mounted on the span's piers.
The control machinery is sheltered in a welded, plate-steel, gable-roofed "operator's house" mounted at roadway level on a steel framework at mid-span on the north (upstream) side.
Measuring 23 feet in width, the bridge's concrete deck is bordered on the north by an angle-iron railing and on the south by a concrete sidewalk with an ornamental metal railing.

Ultra-Span equipment is installed and operates in various environments around the world - without the environmental controls that many other systems would require...some facilities are outdoors with only curing blankets, others require only minimal housing to ensure above freezing temperatures are maintained.
Longer spans with high load capacity means less column or support wall requirements and better space utilization.

Span lines are horizontal line of pixels that run the entire length of the display device and segments are portions of the span line that represent horizontal triangle start to stop segments for a respective triangle.
More specifically, rasterization of 3D objects is accomplished using display span segments located between triangle edges, wherein the display span segments are organized in a spanning manner in the Y and X directions in the manner in which the pixel data is provided to the display.
In such an embodiment, and for the"region based"mode of operation of the IMC system, during the execution engine's visible span line set-up process, all triangles for a given number of scan lines must be present prior to triangle set-up (step 404) for a particular object or portion of the output display.

Challenges to the memory interpretation of the span test
The terms memory span, span of apprehension, and span of absolute judgment have been in common use, but there are other terms, each reflecting a particular paradigmatic or theoretical allegiance.
The spans question is one of the oldest topics in experimental psychology and has roots in pre-scientific philosophy.
These notions of the span limit as a limit on set are interesting because they seem to be cognitive analogues of an early span theory conception (Bachelder & Denny, 1977a, b), namely, the span limit is a limitation of the ability to cope with complex stimulus control.

Furthermore, the significant positive relationship between performance on the lag task and the operation task suggests that the lag task may be a stable measure of working memory.

 Working Memory Q & A
The reasoning behind using the upper and lower quartiles of the operation span scale was to ensure maximal chance of detecting a group difference on the dependent variables they were interested in studying (disruption by name in unattended ear, e.g.).
It may be true that they found groups that were close to the ends of the plausible range of operation spans (working memory capacities), but that was what they were using as a variable to define groups rather than a variable that was essential to their conclusions.
Certainly, working memory span can be expanded somewhat with strategies, but those strategies tend to be very specific to different types of tasks, and often tasks are set up in an attempt to minimize the influence of strategies people may try to employ (e.g., items are presented at a constant, rapid rate).

Span lines are horizontal line of pixels that run the entire length of the display device, and segments are portions of the span line that represent horizontal triangle start to stop segments.
After the Y and X sorts, the IMC performs a Z rules determination for each span line to discard or reject those segments that are hidden, i.e., to reject the now one-dimensional triangle segments that are hidden by other triangle segments.
