The median income for a household in the township is $44,348, and the median income for a family is $48,472.

In 1880 the population of Richland township was 1,598; in 1890, 1,127; in 1900, 1,310; in 1910, 1,146.
The population of Smithfield township in 1880 was 1,424; in 1890, 1,279; in 1900, 1,607; and in 1910, 1,469.
In 1880, the population of Troy township was 646; in 1890, 607; in 1900, 520; and in 1910, 500.

Wednesday, 1 March 2000: 26 Unpledged PLEOs consisting of Michigan's 11 federal lawmakers and 15 Democratic National Committee members are automatically selected.
The District Conventions choose the 84 district National Convention delegates from Michigan (divvied up among the state's 16 congressional districts, so that each district will have 4 to 8 district National Convention delegates)- subject to the same 15 percent threshold requirement for a presidential contender to be allocated any of these delegates.

Congressional township 1 north, range 9 east, of the fourth principal meridian, comprises the civil town of Spring Grove, forming the south-eastern corner of Green county.
On account of the correction lines of the government survey, this congressional township embraces 24,989.92 acres of land.
This town is bounded on the north and west by the towns of Decatur and Jefferson, respectively; on the east it is bounded by Rock county, and on the south by the State of Illinois.

The (Main Stem of the) Indiana Harbor and Ship Canal is navigable in Lake County for 3.0 river miles from the Indiana Harbor to where it branches into the Calumet River Canal and the Lake George Canal.
The portion of the Main Stem that is ordinarily referred to as the "Indiana Harbor" is lakeward of the historic shoreline of Lake Michigan and is surrounded by manmade land comprising LTV Steel and Inland Steel.
For purposes of this delineation, the shoreline of Lake Michigan is identified at the approximate site of the Franklin Street "Draw" Bridge.

When the township was organized in 1847, Peter Falk wanted it named Orange, after an Ohio township, but there was already one in Michigan, and so a compromise was made on Orangeville.
Salisbury and his brother-in-law bought a mill site and water power here in 1850 and completed their mill in 1851.
