What we don't need is Too Much Information.
There really is no need for a unit on Orangeness in the Mitchell public schools -- let's focus on math and English composition and American history and leave Orangism to be discovered later.
It admires your spunk, your gumption, your sense of hilarity, the way you swan around us plain Midwesterners and throw your head back and laugh.

Orangism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Orangism is a form of royalistic loyalty to the House of Orange-Nassau of the Netherlands.
Orangism is also the name of a political current in Belgium, especially in Flanders that never really wanted to be separated from the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
Orangists' aim is to restore the House of Orange-Nassau on the throne of Belgium and Luxembourg, and this Orangist movement is largely inspired by the restoration of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands (see Whole-Netherlands) or the reunification of Flanders and the Netherlands (see Greater Netherlands).

To understand Orangism in N. Ireland you have to live there, because it is a much more visceral experience in Ulster than it ever was, or could be, in Ontario.
Orangism and the wearing of the green, has a meaning for many in Ulster that is quasi-magical.
The universal disdain for Ulster Protestants and Orangism is somewhat akin to the international condemnation of the white Africaanar elite in apartheid South Africa.

Loyalism and the Protestant working class   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Long before the partition of Ireland, landlords and industrialists of the north east had been using Orangism as a way to divide the plain people and thereby control them.
The only times when the sectarian barriers were pushed aside, when large numbers of working class Protestants turned away from Orangism, was when they were involved in struggle against 'their' bosses and 'their' government.
When they fight to better things for themselves and their families they are forced to break from their bosses and make common cause with other workers.

It is the defeat of the provos (though it might yet turn out to be a victory for Adams), but it is not a victory for the Orange Order.
The conditions of the defeat of the Republican policy is that Orangism is no longer necessary for British rule.
So I would agree with Mark when he says that the Drumcree events are more a sign of the decline of Orangism (with the proviso that the wheels grind exceedingly slow, or however the phrase goes).

 Entertainment - 9 April 1998
The 90 minute programme highlights the major role of radical Presbyterianism in the United Irish Movement and reveals the strong Catholic involvement in the Crown Forces which suppressed the rebellion.
The programme identifies 1798 as central to the events that led to the creation of modern Ireland, and explores the evolution of Republicanism and Orangism from an idealistic alliance of Catholics and Presbyterians to the present-day antagonism.
One of the most controversial issues raised by the programme is the way in which 1798 was later claimed for Catholic Nationalism through folk heroes like Father Murphy of Boulavogue, despite the involvement of Presbyterian ministers and the opposition of some prominent members of the Catholic Church.

I guess Orangism is part of a mystical union of Zionism, Reaganomics, WACL, the odd collection of Banana-Republics and Banana-Companies, Alpha, the John Birch Society and Jimmy Swaggarts-style "I have sinned" TV-networks.
The pest of the pro-Jewish pro-masonic multi-racialist disease of Orangism is mainly centred in Northern Ireland, but certainly it exist also in Britain, Canada, the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
It seems however quite silly to propose that this subject should be discussed in the sections Stormfront-Canada, Stormfront-Downunder or Stormfront-Britain, or the Theology forum because this entire movemnet is exclusively based on theocratic hatred dividing the White Aryan Race and replacing racialist criteria with religious criteria as political reference.

The attack on the Bogside in 1969 and more recent events on the Garvaghy Road are conclusive proof of the ideology of Orangism: the subjugation of Catholics.
Since then, Orangism has performed this vital role for the British State in Ireland.
This I may add, was done without the full and proper consultation of the people of the Bogside.
