ACS orca (killer whale) Cetacean Fact Sheet - American Cetacean Society
The orca, or killer whale, with its striking fl and white coloring, is one of the best known of all the cetaceans.
An odontocete, or toothed whale, the orca is known for being a carnivorous, fast and skillful hunter, with a complex social structure and a cosmopolitan distribution (orcas are found in all the oceans of the world).
In the wild, orcas become sexually mature between the ages of 10 and 18 years of age and are thought to be actively reproducing by the time the male reaches about 20 feet (5.1 m) in length and the female reaches about 16 feet (4.1 m).

Cook Inlet, a semi-enclosed tidal estuary that is seasonally ice-covered, appears to be an environment ideal for evading killer whales.
In the upper Inlet there were only 18 sightings of killer whales in the past 27 yr, plus two reports of dead belugas with killer whale rake marks (Fig.
Encounters in the upper Inlet (and in more recent times) are more likely to be reported because there is road access along much of the northeast portion of Cook Inlet, boat traffic is common in the upper Inlet, and there are many sightseers in low-flying aircraft based out of Anchorage.

The primary difference between orcas and bears, which may seem too subtle and invisible to appreciate, is that whereas bears operate largely on instinct and conditioned responses to food etc., orcas are members of specific cultures replete with traditions, social controls and rules of behavior.
DFO decided earlier this year that the four-year-old orca should be caught, transported to Pedder Bay and released when his pod was within acoustic range, because he had become a danger to himself and the public.
Orcas rarely separate from their pods for long periods and the effort to help A73 -- the first time scientist have successfully staged a family reunion for killer whales in the wild -- drew international attention.

Both inlet and exhaust ports must be massaged to mate with the RSR Fuel Injection manifold as well as the special SA Turbo Venturies on the LSR exhaust systems.
The inlet ports are scribed to match the Special Application RSR Fuel Injection Inlet Manifold and the SandS directional vane is "knife-edged" and ported to direct the inlet flow past the inlet valve boss.
We call this ORCA inlet an "Active Port" because vanes on both the roof and floor of the port straighten the inlet flow around the valve guide boss and also because we leave a rough texture to prevent the wet flow from "sticking" to the walls of the port.
