At the foot of a verdant hill, is the province of Ordu, one of the calmest and greenest sites along the Black Sea coast of Turkey.
Previously named "Cotoyora", the ancient city of Ordu carries more recent signs; the Pasaoglu Mansion which belonged to a wealthy and influential Ottoman family of the 19th century, and holds signs of the life style once maintained; and a remarkable church dating back to the 18th century.
Ordu museum, housed in the old Pasaoglu Mansion, is located in Selimiye neighborhood of the city.

In the Tanzimat (Reform) era (1847), Giresun became a sub-province of Trabzon but later was attached to the province of Ordu.

Although building development has detracted from the beauty of the famous view over Ordu from Boztepe, as immortalized in a local folk song, it was still enchanting to watch the darkening blue of the Black Sea stretching from the green mountain foot to the horizon.

 New Disease Reports - First report of Potato Wart Disease caused by Synchytrium endobioticum in Turkey
The potato varieties Agria, Donella, Granola, Marfona and Russet Burbank grown in Niğde and Nevşehir provinces were affected with the disease in very low percentages, not exceeding 1% of the total plants.
Pathogenicity of the causal agent was proved by Glynne-Lemmarzalh method (Glynne, 1925; Lemmerzahl, 1930) by inoculating the potato sprouts at 1-2 mm long with some fresh wart tissue and incubating the plants at 18 ± 1ºC. Sporangia were reisolated from the warts observed 2 months later.
It is present on land covering approximately 10 ha in Ordu province.

 Turkey: First Steps Toward Independent Monitoring of Police Stations and Gendarmeries
In another case in Ordu, on October 28 an adult detainee was taken from Ordu police headquarters to hospital for emergency treatment for a heart condition.
It is not known whether the Ordu governor was carrying out monitoring visits in accordance with the 1999 circular issued by the Prime Minister’s office, but the Ordu bar association and medical association representatives told Human Rights Watch that the provincial human rights board had conducted no police station visits.
In February 2006 the public prosecution office in Ordu gave a decision not to prosecute police officers in connection with the allegations made by the four juveniles and adult detained on October 2, 2005.

Of course it was possible to give you better facilities by organising this Congress in another province such as Ankara or Istanbul which have better means and transportation facilities.
As such, it must be a goal of the Convener and the Editorial Committee to include all of the talks and posters presented at Ordu and to complete the preparation of the Acta as quickly as possible.

The solutions for the agricultural structure of Trabzon province are as follows: - Planting of hazelnut orchards in slope, increases in number of agricultural crops, fodder crops and silage production, range improvement, increases in number of cultivated animals, wide and continuous marketing system for all crops.

The Persembe Yayla, at 1350 meters, is 124 km away from the coastal town of Ordu and can be reached on asphalt roads.
Fifty-eight kilometers south of Ordu province, at 1250 meters, the Çambasì Yayla provides the visitor with shops, guest-houses and, in case of emergency, mobile health care units.
Within the Igdir forest, 134 km from Ordu and 20 km from the town of Mesudiye, the Ordu-Keyfalan Yayla lies at an altitude of 2000 meters, and transportation is provided by dolmus (shared taxi) in summer.

The founder of the first private observatory in the province, Cumaittin Turap, retired with a physical disability in 1994 as a result of an accident in Switzerland, where he was working as a laborer.
His interest in astronomy began in Switzerland and after returning to his hometown of Ordu's Ulubey district, he devoted himself to astronomy as an amateur.
