 Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS)
The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) was founded on 18 June 1981 by the Treaty of Basseterre (Saint Kitts and Nevis).
The Heads and other delegates will gather at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) headquarters on the morning of June 21st for the ceremonial first raising of the OECS Flag, which was selected from among submissions by groups and individuals across the OECS region.
The colours are fresh and clean, optimistic and bright as a “refreshed Caribbean” moving out to meet new opportunities, while the formal dark blue retains a firm, corporate and establishment influence.

In 1967, the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States – namely Antigua, Anguilla, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Vincent, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Saint Lucia – joined in a new “status of association” with the United Kingdom, in accordance with the West Indies Act of 1967.
Sir Vincent Floissac is a former Chief Justice and President of the Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, having served in that capacity from November 1991 to July 1996.
Justice Adrian Saunders was born in Saint Vincent – in the State of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

 Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court
The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court is a Superior Court of record for nine Member States, six independent (Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) and three British Overseas Territories (Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, and Montserrat); and has unlimited jurisdiction in each Member State.
In relation to Grenada, the Court is styled "the Supreme Court of Grenada and the West Indies Associated States".
The functions of the Court are to interpret and apply the laws of the various Member States of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States; to decide cases of both civil and criminal matters and to hear appeals.

 At-Risk Youth in Eastern Caribbean Targeted in New Job Program
Washington -- At-risk youth in the Eastern Caribbean are being targeted for help under an initiative created by an affiliate of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Microsoft Corporation, based in Redmond, Washington.
The OAS said that hopes for future economic growth in the Caribbean rest with a new generation of young workers, where two-thirds of the region’s population is said to be under 30.
These workers, said the OAS, “must be technically prepared to meet the demands of a knowledge economy."  However, because of a lack of opportunities and limited access to training, the OAS said the region's young people are vulnerable to such risks as substance abuse, sexual diseases, crime and violence.

The Trade Policy Review Body of the World Trade Organization (WTO) concluded its first review of the WTO Members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States on 5 and 7 June 2001.
The review is based on two reports which are prepared respectively by the WTO Secretariat and the government under review and which cover all aspects of the country's trade policies, including its domestic laws and regulations, the institutional framework, bilateral, regional and other preferential agreements, the wider economic needs and the external environment.
A record of the discussion and the Chairperson's summing-up together with these two reports will be published in due course at the complete trade policy review of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and will be available from the WTO Secretariat, Centre William Rappard, 154 rue de Lausanne, 1211 Geneva 21.

The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) came into being on June 18, 1981, when seven Eastern Caribbean countries signed a treaty agreeing to cooperate with each other and promote unity and solidarity among their Member States.
The OECS Information Network, established in 1987, developed a computer-based bibliography of documents held by the Documentation Centers in the Member States and institutions of the Secretariat.
