Oriental Adventures - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oriental Adventures is the title shared by two hardback rulebooks published for different versions of the Dungeons and Dragons (DandD) fantasy roleplaying game.
The original Oriental Adventures (ISBN 0-88038-099-3) was written by Gary Gygax, David "Zeb" Cook, and Francois Marcela-Froideval, and published in 1985 by TSR, Inc. for use with the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 1st Edition rules.
The second version of Oriental Adventures (ISBN 0-7869-2015-7) was written by James Wyatt and published by Wizards of the Coast in October 2001.

Oriental Adventures and Legend of the Five Rings
First and foremost is the original Oriental Adventures, published in 1985 for the first edition of the ADandD game.
The only significant gap is the lack of any campaign information about Kara-Tur, the far-eastern continent of Toril (the world of the Forgotten Realms), which was the second-edition Oriental Adventures campaign.

The possibilities for an Oriental campaign are every bit as varied as that of a standard pseudo-European setting, and can form the basis for a strong campaign even after the novelty of a new thing wears off.
Classes: Thoughts on the roles and abilities of classes in an Oriental setting, plus two new 3e classes: the samurai and kensai.

 The Weapons Master
Improved ability to hit creatures hit only by magic weapons with a melee weapon of proficiency: After Oriental Adventures, this ability is identical to the kensai's rather than the barbarian's.
That is, the weapons master may affect creatures struck only by magical weapons of +1 or better at 3rd level, +2 or better at 5th level, +3 or better at 8th level, +4 or better at 10th level, and +5 or better at 12th level.
Maximum damage attack with a melee weapon of proficiency: This power is identical to the kensai's, and is only available in campaigns occuring after the advent of the 1st Edition Oriental Adventures rules (in which the kensai was introduced).

Nyambe can be used to expand a European, Middle Eastern, or Oriental campaign as well as replace it (I already have ideas on how to link it with my campaign-in-development), and would be a great sourcebook for anyone wanting to flesh out the "Southern Lands" on the bottom edge of a campaign map.

The first one to come out is Green Ronin's Jade Dragons and Hungry Ghosts, a monster book chock full of monsters from the mythology of Japan, China, southeast Asia, and the fertile imaginations of its designers.

I never bothered to purchase the Oriental adventures book back when it came out as I was usually into a different type of campaign involving antediluvian worlds like Hyboria, or Tolkien-like types of backgrounds.
This time around I have created a huge setting that has room for a purely oriental campaign setting and I was wondering if the Oriental adventures book is worth having to augment any scenarios that could take place in that area.
It was rushed to the printers and there are a few "broken rules" in there, but for the most part it is good stuff.
