Star Trek: The Original Series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The series was created during a time of cold war politics, and the plots of its episodes occasionally reflected this.
The original series shows encounters with other advanced spacefaring civilizations, including the Klingons and the Romulans, both of which were involved in separate "cold wars" with the Federation.
Series script editor Dorothy C. Fontana (originally Roddenberry's secretary) was also a vital part of the success of Star Trek — she edited most of the series' scripts and wrote several episodes.

Battlestar Galactica (1978 TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The era in which this exodus took place is never clearly stated in the series itself; however various implications on-screen suggested the series was taking place concurrently with the broadcast of the episodes.
However, the later Galactica 1980 series (which was expressly set in 1980) to some extent contradicted this.
The pilot to this series, the biggest budgeted (US$7 million) pilot ever up to that time, was originally released theatrically in Canada, Western Europe and Japan in July 1978 in an edited 125-minute version.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In all versions, the series follows the adventures of Arthur Dent, a hapless Englishman who escapes the demolition of Earth by a bureaucratic alien race called the Vogons with his friend Ford Prefect, an alien from a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of Betelgeuse and researcher for the eponymous guidebook.
The series was also notable for its use of sound, being the first comedy series to be produced in stereo.
The double LP and its sequel were originally released by Original Records in the United Kingdom, in 1979 and 1980 with the catalogue numbers ORA042 and ORA054 respectively.

The 1st and 2nd series stickers are generally harder to find then the 3rd thru 13th series, but the 14th thru 16th series stickers are even more difficult to find since they were sold in smaller quantities.
Summary: Two of the stickers in this series, Choke Wagon and Bum Chex, were pulled from production early on (due to cease and desist letters) and were replaced by Windhex and Mess Clairoil making all 4 of them harder to find, but especially the original two.
Summary: There is a blank spot on 9th series checklists (like in the 5th series) that indicates a sticker was removed at some point.

THE CINEMA LASER DVD REVIEW-- STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES- THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON
Of course, across that expanse of time, STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES (as it is now referred to) had become a bit more difficult to see, as it was no longer the syndicated darling that it once was.
For those of you unfamiliar with STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES the show was the brainchild of Gene Roddenberry, who pitched the science fiction series, at a time when westerns were popular TV fodder, as a Wagon Train to the stars.
Considering that the show was originally monaural and intended for the fidelity of television speakers, these new 5.1 channel remixes are quite wonderful.

The series ran for a total of 24 episodes before being canned due to its expense and sliding ratings, but it had a huge impact and is remembered with great fondness even by those who aren’t rabid fans.
The series is often criticised for endlessly recycling stock footage, especially during the space battles where this reaches almost unreasonable levels, and for its cheesiness (plenty of cute kids and robots in this one), but on the whole it’s much easier to forgive such faults in retrospect.
If you want family entertainment then you want the original series, but if you prefer modern special effects, a bit more action, and are not watching with children then the new series has more on offer.
