		MAMA DOLL - Doll with a stuffed cloth body having a "mama" voice box (usually seen as a visible circle on the back of the body) and swinging legs produced by stitched hip joints so constructed that when the doll is held and led forward it simulates walking, but there is no actual walking mechanism.
		The type of doll is determined solely by the material of the head, even though the body and limbs may be of different substance or material.
		Dolls might have combinations of old and new materials and/or clothing, e.g., composition head on hard plastic body, made when plastics were just being introduced to doll making.

	Porcelain Doll Making Instruction - Cutting Eyes in Porcelain Doll Greenware
		You should carefully study the photograph of the antique doll to determine whether or not the droop, if any, appears to be intentional, or if it is simply a misalignment caused by sloppy cleaning of the original doll.
		It is also wise, with modern dolls, to re-incise the upper eyelid area BEFORE cutting out the eye as the removal of the greenware in the eye area weakens the structure of the head.
		Cutting the eyehole and the beveling procedure are the same for modern dolls as for the reproduction antique doll, with the exception of taking care not to make the inside corner of the eye sharp if the doll has a defined tear duct.

		Original "Goldsmith" type body with sewn-in red corset, sewn-in red lower legs representing stockings, and sewn-in red kid boots with original tassels; lower arms are leather with stitched fingers.
		She is dressed in her original red checked dress which is entirely hand-stitched and has tiny cartridge pleats and a piped waistband which is lined; sleeves are heavily gathered and end in banded ruffles; antique pantalettes are also hand-stitched and have tatted hems.
		Condition: Excellent; no damage or repair to china head and minimal paint wear; body is excellent, with muslin reinforcement of upper body and upper arms (typical for age) and some wear to the leather boots as expected.
