WALTER MALDONADO SENTENCED IN U.S.   Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on January 24, 2005, before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, WALTER ORLANDO MALDONADO, a 27-year-old citizen of El Salvador, appeared for sentencing.
MALDONADO later re-entered the United States illegally on an unknown date.
A records check revealed that MALDONADO had previously been deported and did not have permission to be in the United States.

Maldonado was out of town Friday when he called for the hearing into the 1999 beating and said he had not read the entire story about the 2000 incident.
Maldonado noted that the Sheriff's Department has said no officers were cited for brutality in the 1999 beating.
