Orlando Broncos of the Florida Football League and the Southern Football League were the first team football team in the city.
Orlando has one other professional football team: The Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League (a modified form of football that plays in basketball-sized arenas such as the Orlando Arena, currently the T.D. Waterhouse Arena) began playing in 1991 and are the only one of the city's teams still in existence (see logo on right).
The Citrus Bowl was also the home of the imaginary NFL football team the Orlando Breakers from 1995 to 1997 when the producers of the TV sitcom Coach chose to move the characters to Orlando to move from college football to professional football.

The current Orlando Rage, a minor league team in the Southern States Football League with different colors and logos, has no connection with the former XFL franchise.
The team name was revived in 2004 as a member of the minor-league Southern States Football League, after a merger between the Orlando Starz and Orlando Panthers franchises.
